History

CBTermo was born in 2000, as part of the XII Brazilian Congress on Chemical Engineering (COBEQ), held in Águas de São Pedro (SP) and organized by the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). In that first edition, the event was not yet called CBTermo and was named EQUIFASE.BR in reference to the Iberoamerican Conference on Phase Equilibria and Fluid Properties for Process Design (EQUIFASE). In the following editions, CBTermo, under the organization of prof. Martín Aznar, continued to be an integral part of COBEQ. In 2011, with the consensus that there was sufficient critical mass within the thermodynamics community in Brazil, CBTermo was held in Salvador, Bahia, as an independent event with periodicity of two years, alternating with COBEQ. The following events were held in Uberlândia (MG), Aracaju(SE), and Porto Alegre (RS). In its 10th edition, CBTermo is going to be host by Rio de Janeiro State University in the city of Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro.
